A pair of important Absentee Ballot dates are approaching.
Tuesday, October 28 is the deadline for applications for absentee ballots.
An important note from the Luzerne County BOE website regarding applications for Absentee Ballots:
A voter may appear in person at the Bureau of Elections any time prior to the deadline to make application for a civilian absentee ballot. Voters may also hand deliver applications on behalf of other voters in the same way they may deliver an application to register to vote. However, the ballot itself may only be delivered to the voter himself or herself. In other words, if you are the applicant, you will receive only your ballot and not that of anyone else.
Friday, October 31 is another key date: It's the deadline for submitting most Absentee Ballots.
Here are more important notes from the BOE website on submitting voted Absentee Ballots:
All voted absentee ballots; except those received from military and overseas electors, and emergency absentee electors, as defined by law, must be received by the county board of elections by 5:00 PM on this day to be counted.
A voter may appear in person at the Bureau of Elections any time prior to the deadline to deposit their own voted ballot into a ballot box for such purpose.
On the day of the deadline, voters also have the option of placing the proper postage upon the voted absentee ballot and giving it to the postal worker at the public counter of the main branch of the post office on South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The postal worker will hand cancel the postage and hold it for a representative of the Bureau of Elections who will collect those voted absentee ballots for processing at 4:45 PM.
